Imagine, if unfortunately, you got cheated by your internet service provider or you are not satisfied with the promised services by your DTH operator or you feel that the practices followed by your mobile service provider are unfair, what do you do?
Obviously, you would make a complaint with the involved company and ask for the valid compensation for the inconveniences caused. The company quickly agrees to the mistakes it made and would award the compensation to you immediately. You would again continue using the services and would live happily thereafter!
Yes, you exclaim to this kind of smooth and seamless execution delivered by problem rectification department of a private company or government controlled entity. In ideal world everything sorts out without you getting frustrated. Service sector in India is definitely improving by making sure we get (almost) world class services at our homes, in offices and (somewhat) at public places. Company officials, executives are trained to assure customers with some bluff or simply say 'No' if you ask for compensation and give some company policy crap. Its irritating to go through all this, wasting your time explaining, arguing with the company and at the end there is good chance that you remain empty handed.
So, what could you possibly do to resolve you problem, the easiest and the first you think of - walk away from the company and warn your close ones about it. Quite possibly you might again end up getting same kind of treatment from some other company! and still no mental satisfaction. This needs to be stopped somewhere and you should be compensated for what you have suffered.
Who do you look up to in situations like this? The least expected - "Government of India" yes, you read it right, the government. At first you could be skeptical about this as I was too but, its worth a shot and nothing (more) to lose. The "Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances" has launched portal for "Public Grievance" which allows you raise your concerns, unfair practices, wrong doings etc. against any entity under a Department or Ministry.
You will have to fill a simple online form, describe your grievance (elaborate as much as possible, this avoids any confusion and, back and forth queries from the entity), attach documents (if any), submit the form. You will get the grievance registration details which you can use to track the status. Further the grievance gets assigned to the responsible department/ministry to action upon. It is then forwarded to the entity and believe me they WILL contact you in very short time (a month may be) because the grievance is sent by letter from the "Department of []/Ministry of[], Government of India". The entity will definitely try to dispose the matter at the earliest as this now has been lodged with the government and you could further extend your efforts with courts of law (you might not have to go to that level).
I have till date lodged few grievances on the portal and got 100% resolution, satisfaction within a short time.
